Steel materials covered
- Sheet and plate offcuts, including laser or plasma cut-outs.
- Structural sections such as angles, channels and beams.
- Metal frames, racks, platforms and supports.
- Tanks, drums and vessels, once confirmed safe and empty.
- Suitable steel equipment and machine bodies.
Stainless steel versus carbon steel
Ordinary carbon steel and stainless steel are different materials and are normally assessed separately. A simple magnet test is a useful first clue, though it is not always conclusive because some stainless grades are weakly magnetic. If you can identify the grade from markings or documents, mention it. Otherwise photographs will help.
What shapes the collection arrangements
Large pieces may need lifting equipment or cutting before transport. Narrow access, upper floors, soft ground and limited working hours all influence how a collection is organised. Tell us about the layout so the right vehicle and team can be considered.
Enquiry checklist
- Type of steel: sheet, plate, section, tank, equipment.
- Approximate dimensions, thickness and total weight.
- Whether stainless steel is present.
- Any oil, chemicals or residues inside tanks or containers.
- Site location, access route and loading space.
- Photographs from more than one angle.
